  1. Historic. I'm honored to be able to witness it.

  2. It is dangerous times to be Pope. How amazing to have Benedict XVI pray for Pope Francis day and night. He knows what Pope Francis is up against. God provided for a unique prayer warrior for Pope Francis. It shows the dangerous and difficult times we are in and God orchestrated a special papacy where the Pope is prayed for by someone who knows understands the papacy as he lived it. We are in a very unique place in history.

How stupid the media to see competitiveness and fights of power. They really don't get Catholicism.

    1. Wise insight, Chantal. We have need of both holy men because of these perilous times. Our Church is so blessed to have their unique gifts to give us.

  3. On a side note, Manitoba and the Yukon has followed Ontario. It is now illegal in those province to teach the catholic position on homosexuality. Eventually it will also come to Alberta. We have great freedom at the moment in Alberta to teach our children as we wish. I will have to go find the stories of early Christian martyrs and children martyr. It is like I can feel the upcoming persecution slowly getting their laws in place.
I've been reading about various dictatorships, the laws get slowly in place and then something happens which then turn the majority of people against another.

I am angry that the media keep trying to place Pope Francis as a collaborator with the Dirty Wars. Do they think they would have spoken out against an evil and corrupt government? They would have been the first ones to denounce their neighbour to save their skin....like they are doing now. It is very few people who are willing to let go of their security (jobs, family) to save and fight against a corrupt government. It is so difficult. We need a job to live and we to provide for our families and keep our children safe. To go against a corrupt and evil government means losing your livelihood, risking your life and putting your kids in danger.

  4. Chantal… that is just chilling about what is happening in Canada! How can people sit idly by and let this happen? (Well, that is always the question, isn't it?) What are the penalties for teaching one's children the truth about homosexuality as sin? Can you link to some articles? I would love to learn more.

And you are absolutely right in your analysis of the media and the Pope and the Dirty War. Complicity with evil is so, so, so much easier than standing firm and doing the right thing. There are martyrs in every age. Maybe our time is coming. We've had it so easy...

  5. I love these photos - it was such a blessing to wake up to them this morning. It made me think that just a little over a month ago, I woke up to Benedict's shocking announcement, which made me wonder what would happen to our Church and now I am filled with so much relief and excitement over Francis' papacy!

Leila, you are so right about how complying with evil often seems easier than standing firm for what is right. I've seen it play out on my college campus where the university administrators were so quick to agree to provide "free" condoms in the residence halls and by free, I mean forcibly paid for through each student's health fee, which is a required part of tuition. Instead of holding students to higher standards, my college just throws contraception at them for their "sexual health", as if they're entitled to condoms as students. They just assume that most students are going to have sex anyways, so they might as well be "safe", never stopping to think deeper about the other consequences of casual sex.

I wonder if Catholic schools in those provinces are still allowed to teach against homosexuality? That's so scary that Catholicism is gradually becoming illegal, it's only a matter of time before the U.S. follows suit.

  6. Here is an article regarding the Yukon.
    http://www.lifesitenews.com/news/yukon-education-minister-forbids-catholic-schools-to-teach-catholic-doctrin

Here is Alberta, there are few only private schools. If you have a group of parents who are not satisfied with the public school, catholic school, ect they can start their own school. If the school is open to everyone, they get funding from the government. There are some schools that have their own school board for 1 school. ( Suzuki school (Suzuki philosophy)). If you choose to homeschool, YOU get funding from the government to teach your child at home. I think it is a fair system and respects the rights of parents to teach their child.

My kids go to with the French school board of our city. They regulate 14 schools in their area, 2 of which are public, the rest are Catholic. My son's school has a Rosary club, I just switch my daughter to the public French school this January because I wanted her to repeat kindergarten but not be the only one repeating and getting moved back in the middle of the school year. She was not ready for Grade 1 and was already getting discouraged. She is on the same bus as before, it is also a newer school as small (less than 100 students from K-grade 6). It was the perfect move for my daughter, especially since I knew her teacher as she taught me in High School. :)

It will be interesting when they tell Catholic schools to NOT teach the catholic position on homosexuality because, there are Muslim Schools and Hindu schools, ect...

When I pay my taxes for he house, I choose whether they go towards public education or catholic education.

What is sad about the Yukon article is that the teachers are angry at the Bishop and want to leave the school. (These are Catholic Teachers. Guess that what happens when you are lukewarm for so long.)

Canada is rapidly changing. I'll post more links if you wish. Lifesitenews gives a good general overview of laws and changes.

  10. Thanks for the links, Chantal. There are some folks I need to share them with. Today, Canada. Later today, the United States.

You know those folks who've kept saying, "That will never happen!" every time we've said that this stuff would happen?

Sad to say, many of them will still repeat the mantra because if you pretend it's not happening, it isn't right? Who would have thought that standing up for the unborn or for true, traditional marriage would become crimes? How far will punishments go for speaking up? Our opportunities for martyrdom fast approach.

  11. GFNY, so true. And the other side really doesn't care if we are marginalized, fined, or ultimately jailed. I've taken note of that in so many conversations. If we are guilty of violating the "civil rights" of others we must be punished just like any other civil rights violators, is what they tell me.
