Christ is Risen!

Indeed, He is Risen!

Annibale Carracci

There is joy in our hearts, as the long preparatory days of Lent are over, and we can once again sing "Alleluia!"

Remember always that the Christian religion is based not on a wise man's philosophy or on an ancient set of rules, but on one major historical fact:

Jesus of Nazareth truly lived, truly died,
and truly rose from the dead.

If the Resurrection never happened, then Christianity is not true, and our faith is in vain.

But the truth is, Jesus Christ is Risen! Alleluia, Alleluia!

A blessed Easter season to all!

"Christianity, if false, is of no importance, and if true, of infinite importance. The only thing it cannot be is moderately important." -- C. S. Lewis

(I'll be back soon to finish out the Fulton Sheen series with his reflections on Easter!)

  1. Leila, I am wondering if you can help me find some resources. A woman I know wishes to become a Catholic, however she is a firm believer in astrology. She is even a practising astrologist and earns her living from this. I have given her the parts from the Catholic Cstechism and also Johnette Benkovic's book The New Age Counterfeit. However even this book doesn't really touch the subject of astrology.
Is there any good in-depth teaching out there that outlines the Catholic teaching against astrology and why it is so? She will need good convincing. Thanks.

  3. Julie, I am not sure about astrology, so I googled it with "Fr. Mitch Pacwa" and found this audio talk:

    http://www.ewtn.com/vondemand/audio/dload1.asp?audiofile=iq_1689.mp3&source=file_index.asp&seriesID=842969394&T1=

    Description:
"Astrology has [its] roots earlier than the New Age movement but it's a big part in the New Age movement. Fr. Pacwa looks at the history of astrology and how it works. He says that it's a cheap way to characterize people to think they know what others are like. He looks at how Isiah condemns astrology. He also talks about some problems that are facing astrologers such as the charts were made when there were only six planets. They talk about how there is no relation between the moon phase and the events that result."

    1. Sorry that the grammar and syntax in that blurb is SO BAD. I am sure the talk is better than the description!!

  4. Hello! Just finding your blog through another one. Just spent half an hour reading through your material. Some of your story is mine as well. I love finding other believers in the blogosphere - I write about faith as well, not every post, but some. I returned to the Church after being raised there, but leaving for some years as well. My daughter was in formation to be a Salesian sister for 3 years, and has taught me more than I learned growing up! I'm following your blog, so I can check back often. wonderful thing, what you're doing here! thank you!
